Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition – Update 144358

Today’s patch is aimed at addressing small stability and performance issues, plus bug fixes, and localization adjustments. Be sure to dig down into the post below to get all of the smaller details before hopping in-game and checking them out firsthand.

Game

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed a crash affecting players using narration on specific languages.
  • Fixed a crash on Xbox when aging up in Return of Rome.
  • Fixed a crash on PS5 that could happen during gameplay and when loading the main menu.

Graphics

  • Jurchen Monks and Monasteries now use East Asian graphics.

UI

  • Changed the interface style for Khitans to Nomadic.
  • Fixed several instances where the availability of technologies in the technology tree was not displayed correctly.
  • Units with charge attack types no longer display the charge bonuses on their interface when targeting objects that their charge does not apply against.
  • The attack of the charge projectile is now displayed in the UI for units with projectile charge types which are fully charged and not currently attacking objects that the charge doesn’t apply against.
  • Fixed an issue where Donjons had incorrect armor display in Imperial Age.

Xbox

  • Human players appearing in recorded Multiplayer screen statistics will now correctly display their icons, and can be interacted with (such as to mute or see their profiles), like in a live game.
  • Fixed an issue where Serjeants would appear trainable in Dark Age at the Donjon.
  • Fixed an issue where the Villager Priority System did not properly count Pastures for Khitans.
  • Non-functional farm commands are no longer present in the Mill interface for Khitans.

PlayStation

  • Fixed an issue with held keys when using Mouse and Keyboard.

Gameplay

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Villagers tasked to Garrison, as well as Gatherers, Hunters, and Shepherds would not drop off the complete amount of resources held, including fractions.
  • Fixed an issue where Jurchen Lou Chuans would incorrectly use arrows against Buildings and Siege Weapons after researching Thunderclap Bombs.
  • Fixed an issue where Chinese Lou Chuan arrows incorrectly ignored armor and did not benefit from attack upgrades after researching Rocketry.
  • Fixed the functionality of the “Go To Store” button for locked civilizations in the technology tree.
  • Fixed an issue where Villagers would occasionally go idle while rebuilding Pastures.
  • Fixed an issue where Xianbei Raiders, Jian Swordsmen, Cao Cao, Sun Jian, and Liu Bei were missing the Unique Unit armor class.
  • Fixed an issue where Bear corpses would be visible in the Fog of War.
  • Fixed an issue where Scorpions, Xianbei Raiders, and Hei Guang Cavalry were missing bonus damage vs Condottieri.
  • Fixed an issue where Scorpions’ bonus damage vs Infantry was not increased when researching Rocketry.

It’s been a busy couple of months for Age of Empires II and we’re so thrilled to see your reactions and experiences! In just over a month’s time, we’ve shipped one of the BIGGEST game updates the game has ever seen, launched on a new platform with our PlayStation 5 release, and finally The Three Kingdoms DLC just last week! We love seeing your excitement with every release and game update, and we’re always keeping our eyes on your feedback. Thank you to everyone for your never-ending passion and love for Age of Empires. Your support means the world to us and we’re truly grateful to work with such a dedicated and supportive community.

We’ve been pouring over your bug reports, feedback, and reaction to everything since our April update, and today’s patch begins to address that. We’ve got more fixes coming in a future update – so stay tuned for that! Please do check our known issues page if you want to see more of what we are working on. This is a consistent process for us: taking in feedback and bug reports, thinking about how we can improve your experience, and finding ways to keep the game vibrant for everyone playing.

Our goal remains to preserve the experience you love while looking for ways to grow Age II: DE  so that you’re able to continue to enjoy this game for as long as possible. If there’s stuff you love, please tell us. If there are things you hate, please keep telling us. If we’ve introduced a new bug (we’re sorry!), let us know! 

We hear you (even over the sound of our chickens)! We’re listening. The gameplay you love isn’t going anywhere.
